The sun shone brightly over Fred’s Ranch and Resort in Isinya, Kajiado, on December 20th, 2024, as Hekima University College hosted its much-anticipated staff Christmas Party. This grand event, steeped in gratitude and camaraderie, marked the culmination of a year filled with hard work and dedication.

The gathering brought together a diverse mix of attendees, including the Principal, the Deputy Principal for Administration and Finance, the Minister of the Hekima Jesuit Community, and the support staff from various departments such as Administration, HIPSIR, JHIA, JSCA, the Library, and Community staff. The Welfare Committee, tasked with organizing the event, had pulled out all the stops to ensure the day was memorable—a true reflection of the unity and spirit of Hekima University.

The event began with an introduction of all members, offering a warm spotlight on new staff who had joined the university during the year. Icebreakers and trivia games followed, sparking laughter and lively exchanges, creating an atmosphere of togetherness and shared purpose.

As midday approached, attendees gathered for a sumptuous lunch featuring an array of dishes, highlighted by Kenya’s beloved Nyama Choma. The tantalizing aroma of roasted meat wafted across the venue, setting the stage for a culinary experience that mirrored the joy and abundance of the festive season.

The afternoon was alive with activity as staff members immersed themselves in a variety of games. From skipping rope and playing tag to football and netball, the sports provided an opportunity for everyone to unwind and connect in a relaxed setting. The cheerful sounds of laughter and shouts of encouragement resonated through the ranch, underscoring the strength of the bonds forged among the Hekima University family.

As the sun began to dip, the Principal took to the stage, delivering a heartfelt speech that encapsulated the essence of the day. He expressed his gratitude to the staff for their unwavering support throughout the year and outlined the university’s objectives for the year ahead.

In a touching moment, the Principal acknowledged two long-serving staff members whose commitment and loyalty have been instrumental to Hekima University’s journey. Mr Benjamin Marindany, the college driver, was honored for his remarkable 25 years of service, while Mrs Pamela Omwega of housekeeping was celebrated for her 27 years of dedicated service. Both received well-deserved applause and tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the institution’s recognition of their invaluable contributions.

The Christmas Party was not just an event—it was a celebration of community, a reflection of Hekima University College’s values, and a testament to the collective efforts of its staff. It also marked the culmination of the Welfare Committee’s work, whose meticulous planning and dedication ensured the day was a resounding success.

As the day ended, the staff left Fred’s Ranch with full hearts, a renewed sense of purpose, and anticipation for the year to come. The event was a perfect reminder of the power of unity, appreciation, and the joy of shared achievements—a fitting finale to a fruitful year at Hekima University College.

We look forward and upward with hope for what 2025 brings.
